Mike Neubig is the leading Small Learning Community/Career Academy Master Scheduling Consultant in the United States. Mike has assisted hundreds of schools in the area of flexible block scheduling for SLC’s, with the goal of all meeting all student needs in structures that allow for intervention and acceleration, while reducing the tracking of students. Mike works with schools to increase the “purity” of students in each SLC/Career Academy so teachers have an autonomous flexible block in which to instruct and coordinate curriculum.
Mike has worked with traditional schedules, the 4x4, alternate day, and has even created a trimester/hybrid to integrate two systems for SLC purposes. Mike’s scheduling system demonstrates how to get at student achievement through structures that can be implemented in often difficult high school master schedules. Mike has worked with large public systems such as New York City, Atlanta, Memphis, Los Angeles, Minneapolis and others, as well as other various sized districts in many states across the USA including Hawaii and Alaska.
Mike’s SLC/ Career Academy technical assistance services include presentations on SLC/ Career Academy district and state initiatives conducive to SLC scheduling Assistance for schools supported by USDOE Grants, Ford PAS, the Knowledgeworks Foundation, National Academy Foundation, ACTE/Siemen’s Engineering Academies, Gates Foundation Grantees, and more.
