Letter from the President

Welcome Letter from the Florida Public Shool Choice Consortium President

KathyJanuary 8, 2008

Happy New Year!

I am honored to have been selected as the new President of the Florida Public School Choice Consortium (FPSCC) for 2008. On behalf of the consortium we are looking forward to an exciting year for School Choice in the state of Florida.

The “Florida Public School Choice Consortium” is a professional organization made up of School Choice advocates throughout the state, advocating equal access to high quality school choice for all students and parents.  Professional groups involved in this organization include, but not limited to, Open Controlled School Choice, Magnet, Charter, Virtual, NCLB Choice, Career Academies or other public school choice options.

As president I am seeking the involvement and support from my neighboring counties.  As stakeholders and those responsible for implementing school choice, we need access to the latest research, grants, state board rules, statutory requirements and “best practices”. Insight and perspective is honed through collegial networking and robust associations with university, federal, and state support networks. Hopefully, your district will be represented at all of the events for the upcoming year.  Your input is vital as we try to ensure quality, equity and diversity in our School Choice offerings around the state.

The Florida Public School Choice Resource Center E-Newsletter will be published again this year. Visit the websites at www.schoolofed.nova.edu/choice and also www.fpscc.net for school choice updates. Your contributions to the e-newsletter should be forwarded to Carla McMullen at carlajon@gate.net  or Nigel Whyte nwhyte@nova.edu . I want you to share the exciting things that are happening in school choice in your district.

I look forward to working with you this next year as we work together to insure all students and parents have a “VOICE” in “SCHOOL CHOICE”

Sincerely,
Kathy Israelson
FPSCC President
