2008 Florida Charter School Conference – An Exquisite Idea!

Thinking about going to the 2008 Florida Charter School Conference? Here are five excellent reasons why you should attend.

A conference established for you. This year’s conference was designed for the charter school community by the charter school community. From parent to administrator, the conference’s planning committee is made up of people from all areas of the charter school community. This dedicated group of volunteers has been making sure the conference will inform, improve and inspire you.

A program of presentations that will engage you. This year we asked you what topics you wanted in the program through a topic suggestion form online at the conference web site. Many of you took us up on that and told us the pressing issues you have that need answers. The planning committee used those suggestions as it reviewed over 50 applications we received from the Call for Presentations. The selected presentations can be found online at http://www.charterschoolconference.com.

Keynote speakers who will encourage you. The two general session keynote speakers we secured are extraordinary.  Mr. Simon T. Bailey of The Brilliance Institute, Inc. will be our opening keynote speaker and Mr. James Forman, Jr. of the Maya Angelou Public Charter School will be our closing speaker. Mr. Bailey will help you identify your organization’s potential and Mr. Forman will remind you why your organization’s potential is important to its students.

An exhibit hall that will educate you. The exhibit hall is more than just a bunch of booths with displays. It is a place to learn what options are available for your school. Our exhibitors have the goal of helping improve your organization. If your school needs to find a solution for curriculum, technology, financing, building, staffing etc., there is an exhibitor to help you.

School performances that will entertain you. New this year was the Call for Performances. Many of our schools have enormously talented students led by equally creative and inspiring teachers. Two such schools submitted a proposal to perform and were selected to participate at this year’s conference. Congratulations to Indian River Charter High School and Bay Haven Charter Academy!

Just as the theme suggests, Charters: Providing Choice, Creating Change, this year’s conference provides a choice of presentations and exhibits to create a change to improve your organization.

One more reason: extraordinary door prizes!
