Performs at Opening Ceremonies of New Target Store in West Palm Beach
Article Submitted by Sharon Campbell
The much anticipated opening of the newly built Target store held its’ opening ceremony on Tuesday, October 6, 2009. The Palm Beach Lakes High School Band played outside the store to start the festivities. The ribbon cutting ceremony began with cheers from members of the neighborhood, who were so excited to see their beloved Target re-opened. Once the guests rushed in, the U.B.Kinsey/Palmview Elementary School of the Arts Dance Company, under the instruction of Ballet Teacher Jane Beck, performed in the downstairs lobby. The festive decorations and colorful costumes of the dancers, created an atmosphere of celebration that was enjoyed by all.
One of the invited dignitaries attending the opening event was West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel. After the Dance Company performed, Ms. Frankel congratulated the students on a job well done, and even struck a dance pose with the dancers. The students were delighted by her enthusiasm. Mayor Frankel has always shown support for the students of U.B. Kinsey ESOA by attending many of the events when they have performed around the city, and even invited our Chorus to sing at the State of the City Address.
The UBK Strings Quartet, directed by Susan Rodberg, performed as hundreds of guests dined on hors d’oeuvres and meandered throughout the store. Their performance added a touch of elegance to the beautifully appointed new Target.
